DIY Plumbing
- Equipment needed
- Spanner
- Wrench
- PTFE tape. (soft white)
- Wire wool
- Flux
- Solder
- Plumbers fiberglass mat, or ceramic tile to protect wall from gas flame
- Pipe cutter, clamp with cutter wheel
- De-burring file to clean inside of pipe edge
- Steel wool to clean connection end
- Copper pipes
- Metric - sizes 15mm, 22mm and 28mm (External measured)
- Imperial - sizes 1/2", 3/4", 1" (Internal measured)
- If connecting Imperial to metric, compression fittings could work, for soldering adapter is needed for exact fit.
- Compression fittings (joints)
- 2 x Cap nut's, 2 x olive, Body
- After hand tightening, add one revolution.
- Water tighten, by undo fitting after tightening, and wrap PTFE tape around olive, approx 8 turns in clockwise direction.
- Solder fittings, Capillary fittings
- Cut pipe, clean with wire wool, littel flux.
- Heat until flux begins to bubble, touch mouth of joint in two or three places with solder wire, until ring of solder all the way around joint.
- Solder Integral Ring Fittings (Yorkshire Fittings)
- Plastic Pipe
- Can cut with sharp knife.
- Collet fittings, push fit. (Don't put finger in)
